The
UNDP Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in the North Coast of Egypt Project
(ECCADP) has showcased Egypt’s climate adaptation initiatives during a side
event at COP 24, the 24th Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona
Convention.
The
project, implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in
collaboration with UNDP and co-financed by the Egyptian government, brought the
country’s experience to the Mediterranean stage.

The
session highlighted Egypt’s ongoing Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM)
efforts under the Green Climate Fund-supported ECCADP project, while promoting
knowledge exchange with Mediterranean partners. Discussions emphasized
enhancing coherence and fostering collective action to protect the region’s
marine and coastal environments.
UNDP
Egypt underscored that safeguarding shared seas requires collaborative
solutions, positioning Egypt as a regional leader in climate-resilient coastal
management.
