The
Ethiopian Institute of Artificial Intelligence and the Office of the Federal
Auditor General have signed a contract agreement to jointly develop a
comprehensive audit management system aimed at modernising Ethiopia’s public
financial audit processes.
Speaking
at the contract signing, Director General of the Ethiopian Institute of
Artificial Intelligence, Dr Werku Gachena, said the initiative forms part of
the institute’s broader efforts to work with public institutions to advance the
Digital Ethiopia agenda. He noted that the collaboration reflects a shared
commitment to applying advanced technologies to improve efficiency,
transparency and accountability in public sector operations.

Federal
Auditor General, Ms Bass Damte, said the agreement is a critical step towards
modernising the institution through the use of technology and strengthening the
conduct of financial audits. She stressed the importance of building the system
locally, highlighting the need to work with Ethiopian professionals to ensure
the solution is reliable, sustainable and capable of supporting long-term
institutional needs.
Under
the agreement, the two institutions will develop a digital system that manages
the entire financial audit lifecycle, from planning to execution. The platform
is expected to support audit planning and fieldwork, document and records
management, report preparation, and enhanced collaboration between auditors and
audited institutions through digital tools.

The
partnership is expected to improve the effectiveness of public financial
oversight while supporting Ethiopia’s wider digital transformation objectives.
