Airtel Zambia has announced a US$107 million nationwide network expansion programme, described as the company’s largest single-year infrastructure investment, aimed at strengthening coverage, improving service reliability and enhancing customer experience across the country.

The expansion will involve the rollout of 406 new network sites nationwide, with 121 sites already operational and the remaining 285 expected to be completed by March 2026. The initiative is designed to ease network congestion, extend coverage and improve resilience in high-demand and critical locations, including schools, hospitals and clinics.

Speaking at a media roundtable in Lusaka, Airtel Zambia Managing Director, Hussam Baday, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Zambia’s digital development. He noted that the investment is driven by customer feedback and the increasing demand for reliable and high-quality connectivity.

According to the company, customers will benefit from improved data speeds, clearer voice calls and greater network availability as more sites are commissioned, reinforcing Airtel’s focus on delivering a stronger and more resilient network nationwide.

Mr. Baday also observed that power availability had improved in the past week and expressed hope that the progress would be sustained, supporting Airtel Zambia and its tower company partners in stabilising and maintaining network performance.
