The
Information Network Security Administration (INSA) has convened a strategic
session on the “Strategic Significance of the Electronics Global Value Chain
(EGVC) for Ethiopia” as part of its monthly knowledge-sharing platform,
INSIGHT. The session provided an in-depth overview of global trends,
benchmarks, Ethiopia’s current position in the electronics value chain, and
practical approaches to enhance the country’s participation in the global
electronics ecosystem.

INSA
Director General, H.E. Mrs. Tigist Hamid, highlighted the electronics sector’s
critical role in advancing Ethiopia’s digital transformation, industrial
development, and technological sovereignty. She stressed the need to align
policy, skills development, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure to shift
the country from consumption to value creation within the global electronics
landscape. She further emphasized the importance of strategic coordination
among institutions to unlock long-term economic and security benefits.

Deputy
Director General Mr. Daniel Guta noted the relevance of the Electronics Global
Value Chain to Ethiopia’s innovation ecosystem and digital economy ambitions.
He emphasized that strengthening local capabilities, securing digital supply
chains, and building resilient systems are essential for competitive
integration into global markets.
The

policy engagement are vital to positioning Ethiopia as an emerging player in
the global electronics value chain.
