MTN
has participated in a stakeholder engagement ceremony in Cape Town, South
Africa, marking the successful arrival of the Kayoola E-Coach following a
7,000-kilometre journey from Kampala, Uganda.
The
event, held at the Sunsquare Hotel, was led by Uganda’s Minister of Science,
Technology and Innovation, Dr. Monica Musenero, who also served as Chief
Expeditioner. It brought together representatives from the South African High
Commission, Cape Town’s transport and tourism sectors, and members of the
Ugandan community based in Cape Town.

MTN
was represented by Noluthando Pama, General Manager for MTN Western Cape,
alongside teams from MTN South Africa and MTN Uganda. Speaking at the ceremony,
Pama described the journey as a demonstration of African leadership and
inclusive innovation, noting that the project reflects the continent’s ability
to drive change through technology and collaboration.
Ibrahim
Senyonga, General Manager of MTN Business Uganda, also attended the event,
reaffirming MTN’s commitment to supporting future-ready and connected solutions
across Africa. The company highlighted its role in enabling sustainable
mobility through connectivity, Internet of Things solutions and integrated
digital platforms.

Pama
acknowledged South Africa’s Minister for Communications and Digital
Technologies, Mondli Gungubele, for his leadership in advancing the country’s
digital and green transition agenda. She also commended Kiira Motors
Corporation, the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat of Uganda and
the Government of Uganda for driving the Kayoola E-Coach initiative.
