The
National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Gabonese Agency for Space Studies
and Observations (AGEOS) have signed a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding
aimed at modernizing Gabon’s airspace supervision tools. The agreement was
formalized, by Major General Eric Tristan Franck Moussavou, Director General of
ANAC, and Aboubakar Mambimba Ndjoungui, Director General of AGEOS.

The
MoU establishes a structured partnership between the two public institutions,
combining ANAC’s mandate to regulate and ensure civil aviation safety with
AGEOS’s expertise in space observation and geoinformation. The collaboration is
expected to enhance airspace optimization and security, detect hazardous
weather phenomena, monitor aerial intrusions and illegal drone activity,
support search and rescue operations, and enable sustainable planning of
airport infrastructure.
As
part of the agreement, a Joint Steering Committee will be formed to define
technical priorities, validate projects, and oversee the operational
implementation of joint initiatives. The collaboration will also include
training programs, research and development projects, and the deployment of
advanced monitoring tools.

By
leveraging their combined expertise, ANAC and AGEOS aim to strengthen Gabon’s
technological sovereignty in the strategic field of satellite and geospatial
data applied to civil aviation. The partnership is expected to drive
innovation, enhance aviation safety, and modernize infrastructure, positioning
Gabon as a regional leader in integrating space technologies for sustainable
development.
