The
ICT Authority has convened industry stakeholders for a KDEAP engagement session
focused on advancing Kenya’s national digital infrastructure through
collaboration, data-driven planning, and sustainable implementation.
Thomas
Bwaley, Director of Programmes and Standards at the ICT Authority, opened the
session on behalf of Acting CEO Zilpher Owiti, OGW. He highlighted the
government’s commitment to expanding fibre connectivity in partnership with the
private sector, stressing efforts to bridge the digital divide by lowering
deployment costs and delivering effective last-mile connectivity to
institutions and communities across the country.

Victor
Wahome, GIS Project Lead, emphasized the importance of geospatial intelligence
in supporting the initiative. He explained that a unified national digital map
would help identify connectivity gaps, optimise network planning, and
facilitate evidence-based investment decisions through an interactive
geo-portal accessible to stakeholders.
Timothy,
Environmental and Social Safeguards Expert, assured participants that all
project designs would comply with environmental and social standards, community
safeguards, and national regulations to ensure resilient, inclusive, and
future-ready digital infrastructure.

Through
KDEAP, the ICT Authority continues to promote collaborative, transparent, and
sustainable approaches to expanding broadband connectivity nationwide,
reinforcing Kenya’s drive toward a fully connected digital ecosystem.
