LINX Accra, part of the London Internet Exchange
(LINX) , has gone live in the new Digital Realty ACR2 data centre in Ghana,
strengthening internet connectivity in West Africa.
Digital Realty launched its ACR2 data centre in
October this year, a state-of-the art facility strategically located within
close proximity to several submarine landing cable stations in the downtown
area of Accra.
Within the new data centre, the LINX engineering team
has installed the LINX Accra interconnection hub which is now live.
Networks co-located at Digital Realty will now be able
to access low latency peering services via a single cross connect into LINX
Accra.
Nurani Nimpuno, Head of Global Engagement for LINX, commented: “We are lucky to have
such engaged data centre partners here in Ghana. When building IXPs in new
geographies, collaboration is key. Our data centre partners are a key part of
our business case when building in new locations and success is very much a team
effort. When our team are on the ground installing, we work closely alongside
our data centre partners to ensure the project is compliant with their security
measures and is installed efficiently while knowledge sharing along the way.”
LINX Accra recently went live, acting as a new
internet exchange point (IXP) for Ghana to provide future-ready, scalable
solutions to expand the digital ecosystem in West Africa. It’s LINX’s third
location in Africa, joining LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa, marking a
significant milestone in connectivity for the continent and the good of the
internet.
