The
Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications
(GIFEC), Tanko Rashid-Computer, has undertaken a working visit to Ascend
Digital Solutions, the implementing partner for the Ghana Rural Telephony and
Digital Inclusion Project (GRT&DIP), to evaluate preparations for the
deployment of a new batch of Rural Telephony Project (RTP) sites.

The
visit, conducted on Friday, December 12, 2025, focused on reviewing equipment
availability, deployment logistics, and overall operational readiness as the
country moves into the next phase of RTP installations. The Administrator
inspected Ascend’s warehouse and storage facilities and held discussions with
the company's technical team on project progress and expected timelines.
Joined
by GIFEC’s Director of Operations and the Principal Manager for Monitoring and
Evaluation, the Administrator engaged Ascend’s project leads on coordination
mechanisms, quality assurance processes, and monitoring strategies to ensure
that upcoming installations are executed efficiently and on schedule.

Ascend
Digital Solutions assured the delegation of its full preparedness and
commitment to meeting all project deadlines under the GRT&DIP. The visit,
officials noted, further reinforces the collaborative efforts aimed at
enhancing digital inclusion nationwide.
The
inspection underscores the government’s continued commitment to expanding rural
connectivity and closing the digital divide. Through the GRT&DIP, Ghana is
advancing the rollout of critical telecommunications infrastructure to improve
mobile network coverage in unserved and underserved communities, ensuring
equitable access to essential digital services across the country.
