The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute (EAII) has hosted a senior delegation from the World Bank Health Team to explore potential partnerships in transforming healthcare through artificial intelligence.

Led by Tseganeh Amsalu, Task Team Leader and Senior Health Specialist, the delegation visited EAII alongside officials from the FDRE Ministry of Health to review ongoing AI-driven health initiatives. The team held discussions with the Institute’s leadership, examined active projects, and identified areas where technology could help address pressing health service delivery challenges in Ethiopia.

EAII Deputy Director General, Taye Girma, welcomed the delegation and described the engagement as an important step toward building long-term collaboration aimed at improving service delivery, enhancing quality of care, and advancing health equity.

Amsalu stated that institutions such as EAII are critical to sustaining digital transformation investments. The World Bank team expressed appreciation for the Institute’s health-related AI projects, noting their alignment with interventions the Bank is already supporting through the Ministry of Health.
