Guinea
is hosting the Management Committee meeting of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE)
submarine cable for the first time, as the four-day gathering opened in Conakry
on December 8. The event is organized by the Guinean Broadband Company (GUILAB)
and brings together chairs of subcommittees and representatives from 17 of the
consortium’s 20 member countries.

Minister
of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, Rose Pola Pricemou,
officially launched the proceedings, emphasizing the significance of the ACE
cable in transforming Guinea’s digital landscape since 2013. She stated that
hosting the meeting reflects the country’s growing ambition to play a more
prominent role in strengthening continental connectivity and competitiveness.
Pricemou also reiterated Guinea’s commitment to contributing fully to the
future of the ACE consortium.
The
meeting’s agenda includes discussions on governance matters, harmonization of
member positions, and future strategies to address the rise in digital demand
and cybersecurity challenges across the region.
Prime
Minister Amadou Oury Bah attended the opening ceremony, engaging with
delegations and participating in the official group photo, underscoring the
government’s support for the initiative.

The
convening of the ACE Management Committee in Conakry marks a milestone for
Guinea, reflecting its capacity for collaboration and its contribution to
advancing modern, inclusive international connectivity.
