Guinea is hosting the Management Committee meeting of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable for the first time, as the four-day gathering opened in Conakry on December 8. The event is organized by the Guinean Broadband Company (GUILAB) and brings together chairs of subcommittees and representatives from 17 of the consortium’s 20 member countries.

Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, Rose Pola Pricemou, officially launched the proceedings, emphasizing the significance of the ACE cable in transforming Guinea’s digital landscape since 2013. She stated that hosting the meeting reflects the country’s growing ambition to play a more prominent role in strengthening continental connectivity and competitiveness. Pricemou also reiterated Guinea’s commitment to contributing fully to the future of the ACE consortium.

The meeting’s agenda includes discussions on governance matters, harmonization of member positions, and future strategies to address the rise in digital demand and cybersecurity challenges across the region.

Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah attended the opening ceremony, engaging with delegations and participating in the official group photo, underscoring the government’s support for the initiative.

The convening of the ACE Management Committee in Conakry marks a milestone for Guinea, reflecting its capacity for collaboration and its contribution to advancing modern, inclusive international connectivity.
