MTN
Cameroon has officially launched an innovation marathon aimed at developing
digital solutions to prevent and combat gender-based violence (GBV). The event,
held at the Cameroon Digital Innovation Centre in Yaoundé, brings together
young developers from all ten regions of the country.

The
opening ceremony was attended by Minette Libom Li Likeng, Minister of Posts and
Telecommunications; Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa, Minister for the Promotion of
Women and the Family; John Mubalama, Country Director of CARE Cameroon; and
Marie Germaine Ndzie, representing MTN Cameroon. Participants
in the marathon will work with mentors and experts to design practical and
innovative digital tools to address GBV. Organizers emphasized that the
initiative seeks to harness technology and youth creativity to protect
communities and drive social change.

MTN
Cameroon underscored the importance of collaboration between government, civil
society, and the private sector in developing solutions that safeguard
vulnerable populations and promote a safer society.
