MTN
South Africa Foundation, in partnership with Afrika Tikkun, has launched a new
Digital Skills Hub in Diepsloot, marking a shift from traditional philanthropy
to a structured model of strategic corporate citizenship aimed at reducing the
digital divide.

The
52-seat centre is designed to support digital literacy, ICT-enabled teaching
and practical technology skills for educators and young learners. The hub
operates under a clear governance framework and features adaptable curricula
intended to deliver measurable learning and community development outcomes.
Leaders
from both organisations emphasised that the initiative aligns with the demands
of a connected economy by equipping communities with essential digital tools,
training and opportunities. The collaboration combines MTN’s digital expertise
with Afrika Tikkun’s strong community networks to create a model that partners
say can be replicated across other communities.

The
facility will support a full spectrum of digital learning, ranging from basic
literacy to innovative classroom applications, while also offering professional
development for teachers. Officials noted that the hub signals long-term
community investment and is positioned to unlock future prospects for young
people.
The
launch was attended by MTN’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs
Officer, Nompilo Morafo, who commended the joint effort led by Arthur Mukhuvha
on behalf of the MTN South Africa Foundation.
