The
20th edition of Digital Week in Burkina Faso began with a panel discussion
focused on the theme “Governance and Market for Inclusive AI,” bringing
together experts, public officials, and industry professionals to examine how
artificial intelligence can be developed responsibly and equitably.

Speakers,
including Alassane Kafando, Head of Network, System and Security at Telecel
Faso, emphasized the need for strong governance frameworks to guide AI
development, ensure data protection, and promote transparency. The panel also
highlighted the importance of building local expertise capable of designing and
adapting AI solutions suited to national needs.
Discussions
underscored the growing role of AI in enhancing public services, business
operations, education, cybersecurity, and broader innovation efforts. Panelists
noted that with continued political support and engagement from digital sector
players, Burkina Faso has the potential to position itself as a regional hub
for artificial intelligence.

The
opening session set the tone for the remaining panels of Digital Week 2025,
aiming to advance a vision of a digitally empowered and inclusive Burkina Faso.
