Vodacom
Tanzania Plc has strengthened its commitment to inclusive education with the
donation of essential assistive equipment to support students with special
needs in Zanzibar. The items, which include wheelchairs and braille paper, were
handed over during a ceremony held in Unguja.
Zanzibar’s
Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Hon. Lela Mohamed Mussa,
received the donation on behalf of the government. The event brought together
parents, students, and senior officials from Vodacom Tanzania, led by Chief
Executive Officer Philip Besiimire.
The
initiative forms part of Vodacom’s recognition of the International Day of
People with Disabilities and reflects the company’s broader effort to promote
equal learning opportunities for all children. According to Vodacom, the
support aims to enhance accessibility in schools and empower learners with
special needs to participate fully in the educational system.
The
company reiterated its commitment to working with government and community
stakeholders to advance inclusive education across the country.
