MTN
South Africa has met with a high-level Ugandan delegation led by South Africa’s
High Commissioner, Paul Amoru, for strategic discussions aimed at strengthening
collaboration in technology and innovation. The delegation included
representatives from Uganda’s Secretariat for Science, Technology and
Innovation in the President’s Office (STI-OP), Kiira Motors Corporation and MTN
Uganda, following the successful arrival in South Africa of the Kayoola
E-Coach, Uganda’s fully electric, digitally connected bus.

The
meeting, led on the MTN side by Sudipto Moitra, General Manager for Enterprise
Solutions, focused on deepening public–private partnerships and co-creating
solutions aligned with Uganda’s Industry 4.0 priorities. Stakeholders
referenced the partnership between MTN Uganda and Kiira Motors—which enabled
the rollout of Africa’s first fully connected electric bus—as a model for
scalable innovation across the continent.

The
engagement underscored a shared commitment to expanding technology ecosystems,
boosting industrial capabilities and advancing homegrown solutions that drive
Africa’s digital and economic transformation.
