Kenya’s
Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng.
John Kipchumba Tanui has met with senior leaders from Italy’s Ministry of
Industry and Made in Italy yesterday to discuss expanding collaboration in
digital innovation and technology.
The
Italian delegation included Dott.ssa Eva Spina, Head of Department for Digital
Connectivity & New Technologies; H.E. Mario Cospito, Ambassador of Italy;
and Giovanni Savini, Director General for Investment Unlocking Activities
(UMASI).

Discussions
focused on Italy’s Piano Mattei for Africa initiative, exploring opportunities
in artificial intelligence, space and satellite-based agriculture, smart-city
development, digital infrastructure, and private-sector engagement.
Kenya
reaffirmed its commitment to deepen partnerships with Italy, including scaling
startup participation in AI programmes, advancing joint space initiatives,
accelerating smart-city development at Konza Technopolis, and strengthening
research and skills exchange.
Both
countries emphasized the importance of these strategic collaborations in
fostering innovation, technological advancement, and mutual economic growth.
