The
Egyptian Space Agency, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Cairo,
hosted a special event today, December 2, 2025, at the Space Academy
headquarters to celebrate Italian Space Day and promote Egyptian-Italian
cooperation in the space sector.
The
event brought together leaders from Egypt’s and the international space
community, as well as representatives of leading Italian space technology
companies. Dr. Eng. Maged Ismail, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, opened the
event, highlighting the close cooperation between Egypt and Italy in space
science and technology.

Speakers,
including Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, President of the African Space Agency, and Ms.
Mariela LaRocha, Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Ambassador of Italy to
Egypt, emphasized the importance of long-term partnerships between Egypt,
Italy, and other African countries. They also highlighted the role of the
industrial sector in supporting space programs and building advanced national
infrastructure capable of competing regionally and internationally.
The
program included specialized workshops and technical presentations from
participating companies and institutions, focusing on technology transfer, the
establishment of micro-manufacturing platforms for satellites, and applications
in remote sensing and Earth monitoring for civil and agricultural purposes.
Participants also explored mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of space
programs and maximize long-term economic and developmental benefits.

The
event concluded with an open discussion on joint venture opportunities within
the Egyptian-African framework, stressing the importance of collaboration among
governments, industries, and academic institutions to build skills, transfer
knowledge, and foster a competitive regional space ecosystem.
