Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin has reaffirmed the global community’s
commitment to a people-centered, inclusive, and development-oriented digital
future as she returned to Tunis, two decades after the adoption of the Tunis
Agenda for the Information Society.

Speaking
at a milestone gathering marking 20 years since the 2005 World Summit on the
Information Society (WSIS), Bogdan-Martin highlighted the enduring relevance of
the WSIS Action Lines, noting that they continue to offer a clear roadmap for
addressing today’s digital and artificial intelligence challenges.
She
emphasized that in an era defined by rapid AI advancements and widening divides
in access and capability, the principles of infrastructure expansion, trust and
security, capacity-building, and international cooperation remain essential.

Bogdan-Martin
called on global stakeholders to uphold the original vision of the Tunis Agenda
and ensure that emerging AI systems reinforce human-centered development,
inclusion, and equitable progress for all societies.
