Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital
Economy,William Kabogo, has officially unveiled the fifth volume of Xi
Jinping: The Governance of China during the China–Kenya Readers Forum held
in Nairobi. The event brought together government officials, scholars,
policymakers, media representatives, and youth delegates from both countries to
deepen dialogue on governance, cultural exchange, and shared development
experiences.

Addressing
the Forum, Hon. Kabogo said the discussions were essential in helping Kenyan
readers better understand Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese
Characteristics for a New Era, while gaining insights into China’s model of
modernisation and its global impact. He emphasised that Kenya’s engagement with
the text is not intended to replicate China’s path, but to understand it within
the context of comparative development and international cooperation.
Hon.
Kabogo noted that national progress is driven not only by material development,
but also by the exchange of ideas, knowledge and critical thought. He
reaffirmed Kenya’s interest in strengthening intellectual and cultural
connections with China, including academic and youth fellowships, joint
publishing and translation projects, media exchanges, and collaborations in
digital storytelling and cultural research.

The
Forum featured participation from Minister of the State Council Information
Office of China, H.E. Mo Gaoyi; Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Guo Haiyan;
UDA Secretary General Hon. Hassan Omar; Dagoretti North MP Hon. Beatrice
Elachi; and representatives of political organisations, think tanks, academia,
media, and youth groups.
The
event underscored the growing importance of people-to-people exchanges in the
China–Kenya relationship and highlighted renewed commitment to fostering deeper
cultural and intellectual understanding between the two nations.
