Ericsson’s
President for West and Southern Africa, Majda Lahlou Kassi, has underscored the
urgent need for stronger investment in digital infrastructure to drive Africa’s
next phase of technological growth. Speaking during her keynote address at the
Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town, she said connectivity has evolved beyond a
telecom service to become the engine powering the continent’s digital momentum.

Delivering
a keynote titled “Redefining Connectivity: The Thread Powering Africa’s
Digital Momentum,” Lahlou Kassi highlighted that advanced technologies
such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, robotics and automation
depend entirely on reliable, high-performing networks. She noted that
discussions with policymakers and industry partners during the week focused on
strengthening network resilience, enhancing security and shaping collaboration
models that can accelerate innovation across the continent.
Lahlou
Kassi described South Africa as a leading example of how natural beauty and
technological innovation can coexist and drive progress. She added that
stakeholders across the ecosystem share a common conviction: it is time to
intensify investments that will create opportunities for societies, businesses
and individuals.
According
to her, the path forward lies in building a digital ecosystem where
connectivity serves as a catalyst for inclusive growth, competitiveness and
large-scale innovation.
