The
Togolese chapter of the Internet Society has launched a new community network
in Atti-Akakpé, marking a significant step toward expanding digital access and
promoting inclusive connectivity in rural areas.

The
inauguration ceremony, held on November 29, brought together local authorities,
community leaders and international partners. Representatives included a
delegate of the Mayor of Kévé; Brian Horlick-Cruz from the Internet Society;
and the village chief of Atti-Akakpé, who welcomed the initiative as a source
of hope and development for the community. The event also featured virtual
remarks from Emmanuel Elolo A., President of the ISOC Togo Board, delivered
live from Conakry, Guinea.
The
new community network connects Atti-Akakpé to the wider world and is expected
to expand access to digital education, economic opportunities for youth and
artisans, and vital information services, while strengthening long-term digital
inclusion efforts.

ISOC expressed gratitude to the partners behind the project, including Computer
Café, Dokita Eyes, International Compassion, and the Internet Society
Foundation, which served as the financial partner. The initiative forms part of
ongoing efforts to empower underserved communities through sustainable digital
infrastructure.
