The meeting forms part of activities on the return leg of the Trans-African Electric Expedition, which has so far traversed Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini and South Africa.

MTN, the official connectivity and digital services partner for the expedition, is powering the journey with continuous network connectivity, communication support and seamless digital payments across multiple borders. The expedition is being undertaken by the Kayoola EV Bus, manufactured by Kiira Motors Corporation in Uganda, marking a significant milestone in African-led innovation and electric mobility.

The session in Lusaka brought together representatives from Kiira Motors Corporation, the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat of Uganda – Office of the President, the Made in Uganda initiative and other stakeholders, enabling discussions around sustainability, e-mobility and regional innovation cooperation.

MTN stated that the combined efforts demonstrate the company’s wider ambition to advance digital solutions for Africa’s progress and strengthen Trans-African partnerships. The organisation expressed optimism that the expedition will further cement collaboration with Kiira Motors Corporation and partners committed to advancing African innovation.
