A
team from MTN Uganda, led by Senior Manager for Large Enterprise, Government
and Multinational Business Paul J. Luyima, joined MTN Zambia colleagues in
Lusaka for engagements ahead of the upcoming Made in Uganda Expo and E-Coach
showcase. The meeting forms part of activities on the return leg of the
Trans-African Electric Expedition, which has so far traversed Uganda, Tanzania,
Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini and South Africa.

MTN,
the official connectivity and digital services partner for the expedition, is
powering the journey with continuous network connectivity, communication
support and seamless digital payments across multiple borders. The expedition
is being undertaken by the Kayoola EV Bus, manufactured by Kiira Motors
Corporation in Uganda, marking a significant milestone in African-led
innovation and electric mobility.
The
session in Lusaka brought together representatives from Kiira Motors
Corporation, the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat of Uganda –
Office of the President, the Made in Uganda initiative and other stakeholders,
enabling discussions around sustainability, e-mobility and regional innovation
cooperation.

MTN
stated that the combined efforts demonstrate the company’s wider ambition to
advance digital solutions for Africa’s progress and strengthen Trans-African
partnerships. The organisation expressed optimism that the expedition will
further cement collaboration with Kiira Motors Corporation and partners
committed to advancing African innovation.
