Ethiopia has been awarded the top rank at the Ethiopian Quality Award following
a competitive national evaluation involving 65 institutions. The company’s
Chief Executive Officer, Wim Vanhelleputte, received the honour from the
President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Taye
Atskesellasie, marking a major milestone for the fast-growing telecom operator.

The
award is granted to institutions that demonstrate outstanding leadership,
service quality, operational efficiency and a strong culture of continuous
improvement. Safaricom Ethiopia’s performance across these criteria
distinguished it as a leader in organisational excellence.
According
to the company, the recognition reflects its day-to-day commitment to building
robust systems, delivering reliable telecommunications services and enhancing
customer experience. Safaricom Ethiopia highlighted its network expansion
efforts and the growth of M-PESA Ethiopia as examples of initiatives guided by
its commitment to doing things “the right way, and doing them well.”

The
organisation also expressed appreciation to its employees, partners, regulators
and sector institutions for their support and collaboration.
Safaricom
Ethiopia noted that the award serves not as a conclusion, but as motivation to
further improve, innovate and deliver even higher service quality to customers
across the country.
