The
Ministry of Digital Economy and Innovation (MDENI) has hosted a series of
events this week to advance cooperation between Djibouti and the European
Union, including the official launch of the E-Skills project.
Minister
Mariam Hamadou Ali met with Her Excellency Ambassador Denisa-Elena Ionete of
the European Union to review joint projects and priorities in digital
transformation. The discussions focused on three key areas: development of
digital skills, support for innovation, and the digitalisation of public
services.

Following
the bilateral meeting, MDENI convened project partners, including the French
Embassy in Djibouti, Djibouti Chamber of Commerce, Djibouti Code Campus, and
Expertise France, to formally launch the E-Skills initiative. The Minister
emphasized that the programme aligns with Djibouti’s Vision 2035, the Smart
Nation Roadmap, and the National Development Plan 2025–2030.
Ambassador
Ionete reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting Djibouti in
strengthening human capital and building an inclusive, innovative, and
sustainable digital ecosystem.

The
events highlight a shared ambition to accelerate Djibouti’s digital
transformation and create new opportunities for youth, women, and entrepreneurs
across the country.
