A
new Statista ranking has revealed the top 10 African countries with the highest
number of data centers in 2025, highlighting the continent’s accelerating
investment in digital infrastructure. South Africa dominates the list with 56
data centers, maintaining its position as the region’s largest hub for cloud
services and digital connectivity.
Nigeria
follows with 21 data centers, reflecting its rapidly growing tech ecosystem and
increasing demand for cloud storage and enterprise solutions. Kenya ranks third
with 20 facilities, supported by its status as East Africa’s innovation and
connectivity leader.
Egypt
is fourth with 18 data centers, while Morocco places fifth with 12. Tanzania,
one of the region’s fastest-improving digital markets, ranks sixth with 11 data
centers. Mauritius, a longstanding technology and financial hub, has 10
facilities.
Ghana
and Angola share eighth place with eight data centers each, demonstrating
expanding capacity in West and Southern Africa. Senegal rounds out the top 10
with seven facilities, reinforcing its rising role in Francophone Africa’s
digital transformation.
The
ranking underscores Africa’s growing focus on cloud adoption, data sovereignty,
and digital-economy readiness as governments and businesses increasingly invest
in secure and scalable data-hosting infrastructure.
