Minister
of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati has applauded DotCom Zambia for
becoming the first local small and medium enterprise to list on the Lusaka
Securities Exchange Plc Alternative Market, marking a significant milestone for
the country’s technology sector. Speaking during a press brief breakfast,
Mutati said DotCom Zambia’s achievement demonstrates the impact of strong
governance, credibility, and disciplined execution in attracting investment.
The
Minister noted that Zambia’s improving economic fundamentals—including falling
interest rates, declining inflation, and rising growth and investment—are
creating a favorable environment for innovation. He added that the ICT sector
continues to be a key driver of national development, supported by expanding
broadband infrastructure, strengthened cyber resilience, and improved
connectivity across the country.
He
said DotCom Zambia’s listing sets an important precedent for other local
technology companies seeking to scale and attract capital. According to the
minister, the move reflects growing confidence in Zambia’s digital economy and
signals new opportunities for homegrown enterprises to participate in the
nation’s evolving investment landscape.
Mutati
emphasized that the milestone is not only a success for DotCom Zambia but also
a significant step forward for Zambian innovation, entrepreneurship, and local
investor participation.
