Telkom
Group Chief Executive Officer, Serame Taukobong says global discussions at the
B20 and G20 forums have reinforced the critical role that functional digital
public infrastructure plays in improving trust, service delivery and citizen
participation. Reflecting on last week’s engagements, he noted that
conversations consistently returned to the growing influence of digital systems
on the daily lives of people.
Taukobong
stressed that progress in the digital economy must be practical and inclusive,
reaching rural clinics, small enterprises, learners and families whose
advancement depends on reliable connectivity. He said this focus remains
central to Telkom’s ongoing efforts to expand access and strengthen digital
resilience across South Africa.
As
the G20 meetings concluded, the Telkom CEO highlighted themes relevant to South
Africa and the broader continent, including the need for resilient
infrastructure and people-centred digital design to support long-term
development.
He
expressed appreciation to stakeholders who engaged with Telkom during the B20
and G20 processes, adding that the work to advance digital access and inclusion
will intensify in the coming years.
