MTN
Group President and CEO, Ralph Mupita has met with Nigeria’s Vice President
Kassim Shettima on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, held for the first time on
African soil. The meeting, attended by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission
CEO Aisha Rimi, highlighted MTN’s continued commitment to strengthening its
partnership with Nigeria.

Mupita
reiterated that MTN and MTN Nigeria “are good together,” emphasizing the
Group’s long-term investment and role in the country’s digital and economic
ecosystem.
The
engagement took place as South African President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered his
closing remarks at the G20 Leaders’ Summit, thanking member states for their
support during South Africa’s presidency. Ramaphosa noted that the summit took
place amid significant global challenges, underscoring the importance of
collective action and international cooperation.

In
his remarks, Ramaphosa emphasized that hosting the G20 on African soil for the
first time allowed South Africa to place Africa’s growth and development at the
center of the global economic agenda. He described Africa as the greatest
opportunity for prosperity in the 21st century and highlighted the continent’s
potential as a driver of global economic transformation.
The
G20 Summit concluded with a renewed focus on inclusive growth, investment in
emerging markets, and strengthening Africa’s role in global decision-making
processes.
