Canada,
Australia and India have unveiled a new trilateral technology and innovation
partnership aimed at strengthening collaboration in artificial intelligence,
clean energy and critical minerals. The agreement is designed to accelerate
research, unlock economic opportunities and support sustainable growth across
the three nations.

Announcing
the initiative on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, Indian Prime
Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significance of the new
Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership. Modi said
he held an “excellent meeting” with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese
and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, during which the three leaders
affirmed their commitment to deeper cooperation across emerging technology
fields.
Modi
described ACITI as a platform that will advance collaboration between
“democratic partners across three continents and three oceans,” with a focus on
diversifying supply chains, driving clean energy innovation and supporting the
mass adoption of artificial intelligence. He said the partnership reflects a
shared determination to “guarantee a better future for the coming generations.”

The
partnership will bring together governments, research institutions and industry
players to advance joint projects in emerging technologies. It is expected to
expand talent exchanges, promote innovation-led investment and enhance policy
coordination on key technology issues.
Leaders
from all three nations said the initiative marks a major step in deepening
strategic and economic ties while positioning their countries at the forefront
of global technological development.
