Senegal’s
New Deal Technology Roadshow made a significant stop at the Ministry of the
Armed Forces on 21 November, underscoring the growing alignment between
national defence priorities and the country’s digital governance agenda.
Hosted
by Minister General Birame Diop, the session highlighted the need to strengthen
synergies between defence, security and digital transformation. General Diop
stressed the importance of collaboration to enhance collective effectiveness
across government institutions.

Minister
of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs Alioune Sall
reiterated that digital governance has become a strategic imperative for
Senegal. He said it directly shapes national sovereignty, system resilience and
the state’s ability to operate in a coordinated and secure manner.
Sall
emphasised the central role of Gouv’Num in ensuring coherence, interoperability
and security across government digital projects, noting that these requirements
are especially critical for ministries handling sensitive operations such as
the Armed Forces.
SENUM
S.A. presented key projects under the New Technological Deal, including
sovereign digital infrastructure, secure networks, shared services and support
for high-priority sectors. The Armed Forces also outlined their ongoing digital
initiatives, such as a mission-planning system for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic
Games, a military personnel and mobilisation management platform, and the
digitalisation of the Principal Hospital of Dakar.

Officials
said the engagement reinforced a central message of the Roadshow: digital
technology is now a cross-cutting pillar of national sovereignty, security and
operational efficiency.
The
Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs expressed its
appreciation to General Diop, the Ministry of the Armed Forces and
participating teams for their commitment and collaboration.
