FIRST’s
Africa Regional Liaison Initiative, in partnership with The Shadowserver
Foundation, has conducted a threat intelligence and information-sharing
training and cyberdrill in Ghana as part of activities marking National
Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
The
programme, supported through funding from UK International Development under
the Africa Cyber Program, builds on two earlier collaborations with Ghana’s
Cyber Security Authority (CSA). This year’s edition brought together 66
participants from 21 institutions across the public and private sectors.
The
exercise featured a first-of-its-kind cyberdrill using the public Shadowserver
Dashboard to simulate cyberattack response and assess national cyber hygiene
levels. Participants also received hands-on training with open-source tools
such as MISP, IntelMQ, and Shadowserver data feeds.
FIRST
and Shadowserver officials held strategic discussions with CERT-GH and CSA
leadership aimed at strengthening cooperation and expanding cybersecurity
capacity across West Africa.
The
teams also met with Rt. Hon. Stephen McPartland, CREST Ambassador and former UK
Minister of State for Security, to review progress under the African
Cybersecurity Program and discuss opportunities to further expand its impact
across the region.
