The Principal Secretary for
the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui has
held a meeting with a Microsoft delegation that included Mirna Arif Arif,
General Manager for Microsoft Middle East & Africa Growth Markets, and
Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft Country Manager for Kenya.
The discussions focused on
ongoing and future areas of collaboration between Microsoft and the Government
of Kenya, particularly in government digital transformation, cybersecurity, and
data governance.
The meeting also highlighted
the initiatives Microsoft is advancing in partnership with Kenya through the
African Development Center (ADC), the Microsoft Africa Research Institute
(MARI), and the AI for Good Lab. These institutions are fostering African tech
talent and supporting the development of AI- and machine-learning–driven
solutions addressing community needs in sectors such as healthcare,
agriculture, and finance.

Eng. Tanui emphasized that
these collaborative efforts are shaping the future of digital innovation in
Kenya and reinforcing the country’s position as a leading technology hub in
Africa.
