Botswana hands over ARIPO administrative council chairmanship to Ghana

Botswana, represented by CIPA Caretaker Registrar General, Godfrey Molefe has officially handed over the chairmanship of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) Administrative Council to the Republic of Ghana.

Mr. Molefe, who chaired the Council for the past two years, expressed gratitude to member states for their support throughout his tenure, describing it as a period of “collective progress and shared purpose.” He highlighted ARIPO’s achievements during this period, including the registration and granting of intellectual property rights, strengthening of legal frameworks, advancement of digital transformation, promotion of awareness and capacity building, and the organization’s financial sustainability.

Mr. Molefe was accompanied by CIPA Registrar of Industrial Property Mr. Timothy Moalusi. The session brought together representatives from all 22 ARIPO member states to witness the transition and discuss ongoing initiatives in the intellectual property sector.
