Gabon
is strengthening its presence on the global digital stage as it participates in
the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25), which opened this
week in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event, organized by the International
Telecommunication Union, runs from 17 to 28 November 2025 and brings together
governments, industry leaders and development partners to shape the future of
global connectivity.

The
Gabonese delegation, led by Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and
Innovation Mark-Alexandre Doumba, is representing the country as a member of
the ITU Alliance for Innovation and Digital Entrepreneurship Council. The role
underscores Gabon’s growing influence within international digital governance
platforms.
According
to the Ministry, Gabon’s participation aims to advance key national priorities,
including universal connectivity, digital inclusion and innovation-led growth.
The delegation is also promoting reforms underway in the country, particularly
in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, national cloud development,
artificial intelligence and digital entrepreneurship.
On
the sidelines of the conference, Minister Doumba is holding bilateral and
multilateral meetings with international organizations, development
institutions and private-sector stakeholders. The talks are focused on
accelerating infrastructure modernization, expanding cloud and AI capabilities,
supporting digital transformation across public administration and
strengthening local digital skills.

The
government says its engagement in Baku aligns with the vision of President
Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who has identified digital transformation as a
cornerstone of national modernization, sovereignty and public-sector
efficiency.
