Morocco
has taken major steps toward advancing its digital and energy transition
agendas with the signing of two strategic agreements in Dakhla. The ceremony
brought together Amal Al-Falah Al-Saghrouchini, Minister of Digital Transition
and Administrative Reform, Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and
Sustainable Development, regional authorities, and senior representatives from
the National Center for Research in New and Renewable Energies and Ibn Zohr
University.

The
first agreement will see the launch of the “Icudar Dakhla” green data center, a
next-generation digital infrastructure powered entirely by renewable energy.
Designed to host, store and process data at both national and international
levels, the platform incorporates advanced cloud capabilities, natural cooling
systems and energy-efficient technologies aimed at significantly reducing
consumption. Officials said the project will enhance Morocco’s global
competitiveness in the data and digital services industry.
A
second agreement establishes the Al-Jazari Institute for Artificial
Intelligence and Energy Transition in Dakhla. The new academic and research
institution forms part of Morocco’s national ambition to develop a network of
specialized structures in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and
energy innovation. The institute will offer advanced programs in algorithms,
big data and energy management, while supporting research, experimentation and
industry collaboration for companies seeking to integrate AI into their
operations.

Authorities
said both projects underscore Morocco’s commitment to a sustainable digital
future and position Dakhla as an emerging hub for technological and energy
innovation.
