Ericsson has expanded its footprint in Africa with the inauguration of a new office in Lusaka, Zambia, reinforcing its commitment to the country’s digital development and strengthening its regional presence. The move aligns with Zambia’s National Digital Transformation Strategy 2023–2027 and aims to support ongoing efforts to broaden connectivity and technological innovation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Zambia’s Minister of Science and Technology, Felix Mutati; Swedish Ambassador to Zambia, Johan Hallenborg; and Alain Maupin, Vice President and Head of Ericsson East and North Africa, alongside other stakeholders. The new office is expected to deepen Ericsson’s engagement with local partners and customers, offering enhanced collaboration and access to advanced technologies that support the country’s digitalization agenda.

Minister Mutati welcomed the development as a significant contribution to Zambia’s digital ambitions. He said Ericsson’s expanded presence would help drive connectivity, empower innovation and support a more inclusive and sustainable digital future for citizens.

Ambassador Hallenborg described the office opening as a milestone in the longstanding partnership between Sweden and Zambia, emphasizing that the collaboration reflects both countries’ commitment to leveraging digitalization for economic growth and social development.

Maupin said the Lusaka office demonstrates Ericsson’s long-term commitment to Zambia and its broader #AfricaInMotion strategy, which focuses on advancing digital inclusion across the continent. He noted that the new location will enable closer cooperation with stakeholders and ensure the delivery of high-performing, energy-efficient networks aligned with national connectivity goals.

Ericsson has operated in Zambia for nearly two decades, contributing to the expansion of mobile connectivity and digital services across the country.
