The
UN Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries (UNTB) is exploring new areas
of collaboration with the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies
(WAIPA) following a meeting between UNTB Managing Director Deodat Maharaj and
WAIPA Chief Executive Officer Ismail Ersahin.
The
discussions focused on strengthening cooperation to advance innovation,
technology transfer and investment promotion strategies aimed at accelerating
sustainable development in Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Both organisations
emphasized the importance of aligning efforts to deliver practical support and
measurable results for countries facing structural development challenges.

According
to UNTB, the meeting aimed to identify synergies that would enable joint
initiatives, capacity-building programmes and knowledge exchange platforms to
better equip LDCs with the tools needed to drive economic transformation.
WAIPA’s global network and expertise in investment promotion is expected to
complement the Technology Bank’s mandate of supporting science, technology and
innovation in the world’s most vulnerable economies.
Officials
said the two institutions share a commitment to empowering LDCs through
partnerships that foster inclusive and resilient growth. Further engagement
between the organisations is expected as they work toward establishing concrete
actions to benefit member countries.
