The
Regional African Satellite Communications Organisation (RASCOM) held a
strategic meeting with Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah, the newly appointed Chief
Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) and the
Digital Chamber of Ghana (DCG).
The
discussions focused on advancing collaboration between RASCOM and Ghana’s
telecom sector, addressing connectivity challenges, and exploring innovative
solutions to strengthen digital infrastructure across the continent. RASCOM
Director General, Timothy Ashong, emphasized the importance of such
engagements, stating, “Meeting with industry leaders like Sylvia
Owusu-Ankomah reinforces our commitment to building a connected Africa.
Partnerships are crucial to driving innovation, expanding access, and ensuring
sustainable growth in the digital economy.”

RASCOM’s Director General
also held discussions with representatives from Senegal’s Sonatel, Angosat, and
Cameroon’s Board members, as well as the MTN Ghana team. The exchanges focused
on strategies for addressing Africa’s communication challenges, promoting
digital transformation, and fostering regional collaboration in the
telecommunications and satellite sectors.
The interactions underscore
RASCOM’s commitment to building a more connected and digitally empowered Africa
through partnerships with key stakeholders and newly appointed industry
leaders, including Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah, whose leadership is expected to drive
innovation and growth within Ghana’s digital ecosystem.
The
meeting highlighted RASCOM’s ongoing efforts to foster cooperation among
regional and national stakeholders, ensuring that Africa’s satellite and
telecommunications sectors work in tandem to create a digitally empowered
continent.
