Türksat
A.Ş., Türkiye’s national satellite operator, and Avanti Communications, a
leading provider of satellite communication services across Europe, the Middle
East, and Africa, have announced a new strategic partnership aimed at bridging
connectivity gaps across the African continent, with a particular focus on
underserved communities in Southern Africa.
Under
the agreement, Avanti will access additional capacity on Türksat’s
high-throughput satellite, Türksat 5B, marking an expansion of their
collaboration first established in 2019. The enhanced partnership reflects the
rising demand for high-performance satellite services in Africa’s southern
regions and reinforces both companies’ commitment to advancing digital
inclusion and connectivity.

Dr.
Selman Demirel, Vice President of Satellite Operations at Türksat, said South
Africa remains a key market for the company’s growth plans. “South Africa
represents a key growth market for Türksat. Avanti’s established presence and
deep understanding of local connectivity needs make them an ideal partner for
our expansion into the region,” he noted.
Debbie
Mavis, Chief Operating Officer at Avanti Communications, said the partnership
will enable the company to scale its service offerings and meet growing
regional demand. “Partnering with Türksat allows us to meet the increasing
demand for GEO satellite services across Southern Africa. Together, we’re
expanding connectivity to the communities and businesses that need it most,”
she said.

The
partnership aims to deliver reliable connectivity to enterprise clients across
Southern Africa while fostering collaboration between satellite operators to
strengthen the region’s digital ecosystem. The agreement also positions South
African partners to benefit from the combined capacity and expertise of both
operators, driving innovation and sustainable growth in the telecommunications
sector.
