The Regional African
Satellite Communications Organisation (RASCOM) has joined leading technology
innovators and policymakers at the Africa Tech Festival 2025, which opened
today in Cape Town, to highlight Africa’s growing role in the global digital
ecosystem.
RASCOM’s Director General,
Timothy Ashong, is leading the organisation’s delegation at the festival, where
the team is engaging with partners, stakeholders, and industry leaders to
explore new opportunities in satellite connectivity, broadband access, and
digital inclusion across the continent.

Speaking at the RASCOM booth
during the opening day, Mr. Ashong reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to
advancing Africa’s digital transformation through satellite technology. “RASCOM
remains dedicated to ensuring that no African country or community is left
behind in the digital revolution,” he said. “Through strategic
partnerships and innovation, we are expanding affordable and reliable satellite
communication services that power economic growth, education, and sustainable
development.”
He added that RASCOM’s
participation in the Africa Tech Festival underscores the organisation’s
mission to bridge connectivity gaps and support the development of Africa’s
digital economy. “Events like this provide a valuable platform to
collaborate with both public and private stakeholders, share insights, and
accelerate initiatives that strengthen Africa’s digital sovereignty,” he
noted.

The Africa Tech Festival,
one of the continent’s premier technology gatherings, brings together leaders
from the ICT, telecom, and innovation sectors to discuss emerging trends and
opportunities shaping Africa’s digital future.
