The
inaugural Kenya Software & AI Summit 2025 has officially opened in Eldoret
City with Prime Cabinet Secretary H.E. Musalia Mudavadi representing President
Dr. William Samoei Ruto at the opening ceremony.
The
Summit represents a major milestone in Kenya’s digital transformation efforts,
bringing together policymakers, innovators, academia and industry leaders to
shape strategies for strengthening a software-led and AI-driven economy.

The
event was attended by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the
Digital Economy, H.E. William Kabogo Gitau, and Uasin Gishu County Governor
H.E. Dr. Jonathan Bii. Other key participants included Kunal Lotiya of McKinsey
& Company, Louise Haxthausen from UNESCO Regional Office for East Africa,
ATU Secretary-General John Omo, Moi University Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof.
Kiplagat Kotut, Samuel Cheng of Huawei Kenya, Evid Sibi of Electronic Citizen
Solutions, Prof. Noah Midamba of Moi University, and world-renowned athlete
Eliud Kipchoge.

Their
presence highlighted the strong alignment between government, global industry,
academia, and thought leaders in supporting Kenya’s pursuit of digital
innovation and AI excellence. The Summit aims to accelerate collaboration,
strengthen local capacity, and position Kenya as a leader in next-generation
technology development across the continent.
