MTN
South Africa CEO Charles Molapisi has announced that he will transition into
the position of Group Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO) effective
1 November 2025. Molapisi expressed appreciation to the MTN South Africa team
and noted that the new role presents an opportunity to further drive
technology-led value creation across the Group.
Commenting
on his Linkedin social media platform, Molapisi said he is looking forward to
exploring new areas shaping telecom leadership globally, including how
technology can influence profit and loss structures, enhance enterprise value,
and enable deeper digital transformation. He also highlighted the need for
operators to reassess network strategies as markets evolve, balancing growth
and coverage where connectivity is already widely established.
Molapisi
stated that the future of enterprise transformation will be heavily influenced
by AI across all operational layers, from computing infrastructure to business
services across consumer and enterprise verticals. He added that long-term
enterprise value creation will depend on disciplined capital allocation,
structured operating cost management, and productivity gains driven by
automation and improved customer experience execution.
Molapisi’s
transition comes at a time when the telecom industry is undergoing accelerated
shifts in infrastructure investment, AI adoption and digitisation across
markets.
