South Africa’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Blade Nzimande, is part of a high-level government delegation accompanying President Cyril Ramaphosa on a two-day State Visit to Switzerland at the invitation of Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter.

The visit aims to strengthen political, economic, and social relations between South Africa and Switzerland, focusing on advancing cooperation in key areas such as trade and investment, skills development, and science and innovation.
Minister Nzimande joined fellow Cabinet members, including Minister of Higher Education and Training Buti Manamela, in supporting the President’s engagements designed to deepen bilateral collaboration and promote inclusive growth.

During the visit, President Ramaphosa and members of the delegation also met with South African students currently studying in Switzerland. The interaction provided an opportunity to discuss their academic experiences and explore ways to enhance educational exchange and research partnerships between the two countries.
The State Visit underscores South Africa’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that drive innovation, skills development, and sustainable economic progress.
