Nigeria
has achieved a major milestone in its industrial and digital transformation
journey with the official launch of the largest fibre optic cable factory in
Africa, established by Coleman Technical Industries Limited (CTIL). The event
also marked the company’s 50th anniversary celebration, underscoring its
long-standing contribution to Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.

The
inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Minister of
Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, who described the project as a
defining moment in Nigeria’s drive toward shared prosperity and digital
inclusion. Dr. Tijani noted that the new facility would play a critical role in
supporting the federal government’s Project
BRIDGE, which seeks to deploy 90,000 kilometres of fibre optic
network across the country.
“This
factory will not only meet the fibre needs of Project BRIDGE but also serve as
a continental hub, supplying infrastructure projects across Africa,” he stated.

The
Minister commended CTIL’s leadership for their vision and commitment to
Nigeria’s industrial growth and praised the Ogun State Government for creating
an enabling environment that continues to attract investors. He also
acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform agenda and economic vision to
position Nigeria as a $1 trillion economy.
The
new facility represents a significant boost to local manufacturing, reducing
reliance on imports and positioning Nigeria as a key player in Africa’s
telecommunications infrastructure development.
