The
Great Meeting of Technological Innovation in Togo (GRIT) has officially been launched
at the Lomé International Conference Center (CICL). The event marks a major
step in the country’s ambition to position itself as a key hub for digital
transformation and technological innovation in Africa.

Speaking
at the opening ceremony, Minister of Public Service Efficiency and Digital
Transformation, Cina Lawson, reaffirmed Togo’s commitment to becoming a leader
in Africa’s digital revolution. She noted that while the country may be small
in size, it is “big in ambition” and aims to serve as a laboratory for
innovation where ideas become reality and entrepreneurs drive the future of the
continent.
The
minister explained that this vision is embedded in the Togo Digital 2025
Strategy, which is built around three main pillars, including the forthcoming
Togolese Startup Act currently under review by Parliament. The Startup Act is
designed to provide a favorable environment for the growth of young, innovative
companies by introducing mechanisms such as a national support fund, regulatory
sandboxes, official startup labels, and a registry managed by the Togo Digital
Agency to ensure transparency and visibility within the ecosystem.

The
opening day of GRIT brought together startups, investors, public officials, and
development partners to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for
collaboration. The event aims to foster dialogue between the public and private
sectors and strengthen Togo’s position as a regional leader in innovation and
technological investment.
