Engineering iDirect, a global leader in satellite communications, has announced
the development of its AI-powered network analytics platform, designed to help
operators anticipate and resolve network issues before they escalate. The
announcement comes ahead of a live demonstration of the platform, in
partnership with Q-KON, at AfricaCom 2025.
The
platform utilizes real-time and historical data, including weather patterns, to
predict throughput, detect anomalies, and enable proactive interventions. By
doing so, it aims to reduce downtime, enhance network reliability, and improve
customer experience. According to the company, the new solution allows
operators to lower operating expenses, optimize resource management, and move
from manual to autonomous workflows, ultimately driving greater efficiency and
customer satisfaction.
“Our
strategy goes beyond connectivity. We’re developing value-added applications
that help our customers run smarter, more resilient operations and create a
true competitive edge,” said Sridhar Kuppanna, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice
President of Engineering at ST Engineering iDirect. “By enabling operators
to resolve issues early, optimize resources, and boost workforce efficiency,
our network analytics platform advances both business outcomes and customer
satisfaction.”
The
system was recently validated in a real-world application when Q-KON, a leading
African satellite communications provider, used the platform to detect
anomalies affecting network performance. Early identification of an
installation error enabled Q-KON to take corrective action, preventing service
degradation and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Dr.
Dawie De Wet, CEO of Q-KON, said the insights provided by the platform are
transformative, allowing the company to predict and prevent potential service
issues. “The ability to foresee and mitigate problems before they impact
service will elevate our operational standards and ensure reliable connectivity
for our customers,” he stated.
ST
Engineering iDirect will demonstrate the platform at Stand C63 during AfricaCom
2025, scheduled for November 10–13, 2025.
