The
Management Office of the National Space Program of Angola (GGPEN) has signed a
Memorandum of Understanding with SES Satellites to strengthen Angola’s space
capabilities and expand connectivity across Africa.
The
agreement was signed by Dr. Zolana João, Founding General Manager of GGPEN, and
representatives from SES during a high-level meeting in Luxembourg. The
partnership seeks to enhance Angola’s satellite infrastructure, promote
innovation and training, and extend the reach of ANGOSAT-2 and the Connecta
Angola initiative to underserved areas across the continent.

SES
operates a multi-orbit satellite network that includes GEO, MEO, and LEO
systems, covering 99 percent of the world’s population. The collaboration is
expected to advance Africa’s participation in the global digital and space
economy by driving broader access to satellite-enabled connectivity.
Dr.
João commended SES Satellites, the Angolan Government, and the GGPEN team for
their collective commitment to fostering sustainable development and
strengthening Africa’s role in the global space sector.
