The
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has entered into a strategic grant
agreement with Swedfund, Sweden’s Development Finance Institution, to enhance
the security and reliability of Nigeria’s 5G infrastructure.
The
partnership aims to develop a comprehensive, risk-based framework that ensures
the country’s Fifth-Generation (5G) and future network systems are designed,
deployed, and managed with robust security standards.

As
5G technology delivers faster speeds, ultra-low latency, and supports millions
of connected devices, it also presents new security challenges due to its
complexity and multi-vendor architecture.
By
collaborating with Swedfund, the NCC seeks to strengthen public trust and
safeguard national interests as Nigeria continues its digital transformation.
The initiative underscores the regulator’s commitment to building a secure and
resilient digital ecosystem that will drive innovation and support key sectors
including power, healthcare, transport, and education.
