Ethiopian
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.)
has praised the significant advancements achieved through the country’s
artificial intelligence initiatives, describing the changes as “far greater
than expected.”
Speaking
during the second regular session of
the 6th House of Peoples’ Representatives, the Prime Minister
commended the Ethiopian Artificial
Intelligence Institute (EAII) for its remarkable contributions
to national development and digital transformation.

Dr.
Abiy noted that the Institute has successfully developed advanced software
solutions that would have otherwise cost the country substantial amounts if
procured from abroad. These homegrown innovations, he stressed, are being
provided free of charge to national institutions such as the Basket Center,
underscoring Ethiopia’s growing self-reliance in technology development.
He
expressed pride in the achievements of the EAII, highlighting the Institute’s
role in shaping a digital future that empowers the next generation. The Prime
Minister reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting innovation
and artificial intelligence as strategic tools for economic growth and national
progress.
